Esports Company deploys the software-defined networking platform Comcast Business ActiveCoreSM to help its growing national gaming network and plan for potential localhost development.
Comcast Business revealed it’s collaborated with Nerd Street Gamers to support the esport company’s competitions and the Localhost facilities with high-level bandwidth and networking.
In order to prepare for the expected market expansion, create maximum visibility of network efficiency and boost the streaming of bandwidth to its consumers, Nerd Street Gamers have selected Comcast Ethernet dedicated Internet (EDI) and Software- Defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) applications.
“When you are building an esports platform at the scale we envision, anything less than a super-fast, highly reliable network is inadequate,” said Rob Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, Nerd Street Gamers. “Comcast Business gives us access to reliable connectivity during even the most intense competitions. We’re able to create a competitive environment that puts every player on the same footing.”
Nerd Street Gamers is steadily growing to over 100 localhost facilities within the next five years. Localhosts are public distribution platforms that use the same high-performance machines that professional gamers use in large tournaments and enable players of all skill levels to share a friendly social environment. The company’s online competitions, as well as potential individual events, will host a hundred of players at once, to support the development of amateur esports in collaborative environments.
When Comcast Business EDI and SD-WAN are deployed on both current and planned sites, both for the future and for the existing Nerd Street Gamer should be well prepared. The organization has undergone a huge growth in social network activity following the decision made in March 2020 to bring its activities online, including a large rise in the number of people clicking on its event links. Just a few weeks later, Nerd Street announces some of its biggest online tournaments.
Sr. Director, Product Management at Comcast Business “As companies rooted in online entertainment fill the void left by canceled live sporting and gaming events, esports’ popularity is growing, and some leagues and games are poised for success both during and after stay-at-home mandates are lifted,” said Jody Hagemann,” “By deploying Comcast’s high-bandwidth network and SD-WAN solutions now, NSG is well positioned to rise above the competition and become a leader in the future of esports.”
