An excited Nova Esports International announced that they have teamed up with GodLike Esports to jointly expand their reach in the Indian Market.

PUBG has gained popularity in the Indian gaming sector. In terms of revenue generation it has surpassed other gamers and entrenched itself in Indian pop culture. Even non-gamers would be aware of its existence through social media, memes and the like. One would be pressed to find a teenager or adult unfamiliar with the phrase “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner”.

Following the Jio revolution, the low data pack cost rapidly boosted the game’s popularity. PUBG has both captured the imaginations and ignited the consciousness of Indian teenagers. Interestingly, Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities make up the top 10 cities ranked by level of interest in “PUBG’ according to Google Trends.

The decision to team up with Godlike Esports for the Indian PUBG Mobile Operations was heavily influenced by their observations at the PMCO 2019 World Finals in Berlin. They began probing into the Indian industry and teams, and interviewing influencers. The decision was taken last year, following the excitement of the Indian Games.

PUGB Responsibilities are:

  • Building a family-like relationship with their supporters,
  • Achieving success in both local and international championships such as PMCO, PMWL and PMSC,
  • Promoting the recognition of their players and influencers as public figures
  • Attracting international teams to compete in the Indian Market, thus boosting public awareness and the level of competition.
  • Enhancing the skills and tactics of their players through seasoned PUBG Mobile staff;
  • Ensuring the provision of high quality to the group

Tencent, PUBG’s parent company, is pulling out all stops to ensure maximum penetration into the Indian mobile gaming sector. In order to accommodate and increase the user base among low-end hardware users, Tencent released the ‘lite’ version of PUBG in India in July. According to data extracted from AppAnnie, in the space of only a couple of months, India’s user base has increased to 50% of the 32M  global PUBG Lite user base, with an average gross revenue in India of $840, surpassing the world average which currently stands at $820.

Following this first taste of the Indian espor s culture, PUGB look forward to future growth in India.
