Team17 and Bad Yolk Games today have introduced the Main Assembly to Steam Early Access. This freeform crafting and creation game allows players to construct any robot or gadget they can dream up, from sportscars and fighter jets to mechanical monsters and even robotic pants. These creations can then be released into virtual worlds to be tested against a myriad of challenges. A variety of crafting tools are available for creations to be modified and automated or annihilated using the robot destruction engine. Friends can link up online to test their creations against each other. Better still, players can share their creations with other inventors from around the world via the Steam Workshop.

Key features of the main Assembly:

Freeform crafting: Build any robot or gadget you can think of and use any of 65 + cosmetic parts to modify or accessorise it! In the single player challenge, your robot can jump, rescue crash dummies, and ride a rollercoaster with the aim of collecting 106 stars along the way.

Solo & multiplayer sandbox gameplay: Challenge friends to an online multiplayer game of racing, ski-jump or snowboarding or enter the Steam Workshop and share your inventions with the world. It is a limitless gaming experience!

Advanced physics: Use the advanced robot destruction engine, coupled with aerodynamics and advanced physics to fly, drift or otherwise creatively annihilate your creation. Just remember, because all destruction occurs via the physics engine, the more components you lose, the harder it is to control your invention!

Powerful visual programming language: You can create special controls for your bot or automate it using a variety of sensors.

Joel Jonsson, CEO and Creative Director, Bad Yolk, said: “We’ve been hammering away at the Main Assembly for the last few months, tweaking the experience based on player feedback, and we’re now ready for Early Access players to pick up their tools and get to work! It’s been a long road to get to where we are now, and with Team17’s help we’re at the point where we’re willing to let even more players in to flex their creative muscles and show us what they can make.”

Max Everingham, Head of Publishing, and Team17, said: “We’ve already seen the incredible creative potential of the Main Assembly in recent months. Its growing and passionate community has already produced some mind-blowing contraptions from history, the modern world, and pure imagination throughout the game’s various beta releases. The move to Early Access will continue to build on that impressive creative trajectory in the months ahead, as more content updates bring even more possibilities for players to use in their creations.”
