The DPC WEU Tour 2 is all the rage, many thanks to the return of Team Secret. Meanwhile, Tundra Esports and OG remained relevant, which is to be expected from DPC WEU Regional Finals participants.
Then, there’s Team Liquid, the previous Tour’s winner of Division 1 bracket, with only all losses and zero wins to show for it.
Losing liquidity among fans
Team Liquid’s namesake boasts high-profile players that are famed in the DPC WEU scene. Most notably, there’s Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen, the International 7 (TI7) Champion, but the power-forward roster isn’t limited to Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg and Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi.
Needless to say, fans were unable to fathom what went wrong in Liquid for a team of such calibre. Well, if we have to say, Liquid’s drafts have been lacklustre for a team that has such capable players, such as zai. Zai’s iconic moments in his pro career included outplaying opponents with aggressive maneuvers, such that laning against zai is a living hell. Yet, we have only seen Tidehunter, Monkey King, and Nature’s Prophet.
Which compared to Team Secret or OG’s drafts, pales in terms of presence and initiation.
A free win from Brame
Considering the dire situation Liquid’s in, this week’s match vs Brame will be crucial. A first win is necessary for Liquid to securely be in the upper seeds of the scoreboard.
While Brame isn’t a threat in DPC WEU Tour 2, be reminded that Liquid has yet to face off against Gladiator and Tundra Esports. The two first-class opponents have accomplished some incredible feats in DPC WEU thus far, such as winning the DPC WEU Regional Finals and defeating Team Secret respectively. Therefore, it’s only reasonable to consider Liquid to be in a sticky situation right now.
Team Liquid vs Brame
Unexpectedly, the odds are in favor of Liquid at x1.23 vs Brame at x3.98 returns for obvious reasons. Liquid may not be performing phenomenally going into week 3, but they are still among the top candidates anticipated to qualify for Stockholm Major 2022.
Tundra Esports makes a wintery blast
Tundra is arguably the most underrated team at the DPC WEU Tour 2. It certainly isn’t because of deteriorating performance, but due to their underwhelming showcase, only sufficient to keep up with the competition.
That said, even a runner-up place in Division 1 will be an accomplishment for Tundra or any participating teams for that matter. Stockholm Major grants tickets to top-four teams in DPC WEU Tour 2 Division 1 after all.
Anyways, having one-up Team Secret at their prime form is definitely a good start. What’s worth noting is that Tundra pulled off unorthodox draft, oriented to deal ample magic damage at one target. Eventhough this draft was a response to Secret’s Omniknight and Io (which boosts physical resistance), it’s a refreshing take from the typical Templar Assassin games.
Tundra Esports vs Nigma Galaxy
Frankly, it’s absurd how Nigma is still overhyped for a team that barely accomplished anything since their last season’s upset. Despite the unconvincing performance, Nigma has always comprised of four former Team Liquid players who won TI7.
