WePlay AniMajor 2021 teams and secured TI10 invites

As the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 (DPC 2021) Season 2 ended with a series of tiebreakers, we finally have our complete list of qualified teams for the WePlay AniMajor 2021. Whether it’s Team Secret in the Wild Cards or the unexpected Quincy Crew in the Playoffs category, each of these teams now has equal opportunities at getting their share of both 500,000 USD and 2,700 DPC Points.

Now, without further ado, let’s take a trip down memory lane to remind us about what a chaotic DPC season it has been.

Team Secret’s narrow victory

Team Secret screamed prestige, strength, and sheer dominance during 2020 and early 2021, and were the definition of what a powerhouse should be. Yet, I think everyone can agree that it was a nail-biting experience watching Team Secret’s losing spree throughout the DreamLeague S15.

From kickstarting their first week with a loss to Nigma, then Alliance, and even team OG, to bouncing back and still making it into the Major. At one point, the Team Secret bandwagon disbanded and expectations were low, but through sheer determination the team is now looking at a major run. Some credit needs to go to team OG who lost crucial matches to Team Liquid and Nigma, enabling Team Secret to take a comfortable fourth-place finish.

Team Secret secured their The International 10 (TI10) invite with 950 DPC points in their book.

Heavy competition among the top twelve

It’s always a healthy sign of a competitive Esports when six teams share fifth place in the DPC rankings. The featured teams include Alliance, Quincy Crew, beastcoast, PSG.LGD, Team Aster, and Thunder Predator.

Surprisingly, the underrated South American scene brought two representatives into the top twelve playing field. Which frankly, for the most part, has been a sight for sore eyes for many Dota 2 betting fans. Most notably, Thunder Predator’s drive to overthrow the favorites is one excitement we can enjoy from the major. Unfortunately, Thunder Predator’s DPC points shall remain stagnant as they missed out on the WePlay AniMajor.

Alliance, Quincy Crew, and beastcoast, on the other hand, have consistently performed in their respective regional leagues. Yet, they completely lose their form when they are in the face of other regions’ threats. Hopefully, these teams can get over the ‘jetlag’ and deliver as expected at the WePlay AniMajor 2021.

The Top 3 in DPC 2021 Rankings

Much to everyone’s expectations, the top three teams in DPC 2021 rankings all made it into the WePlay AniMajor 2021. Albeit, each holds a spot in different tier. Starting with Virtus.pro who secured a Playoffs seed, followed by Evil Geniuses in the Group Stage seeds, and lastly, Invictus Gaming barely made it into Wild Card Seeds.

Fans anticipate an incredible showing, especially from Invictus Gaming, who won the Singapore Major earlier in April 2021. Even EG, a grand finalist of the previous major, garnered attention with their newly-recruited Asian prodigies, “Abed” Azel L. Yusop and Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xi
