Roblox, a global online platform that brings together more than 120 million people through play, today announced the results of the 7th annual Bloxy Awards, a celebration of the Roblox community’s passion, talent and innovation. Nearly 4 million concurrent players were on the Roblox network at its height, including over 600,000 players and developers watching the awards ceremony unfold in real time inside the Bloxy interface, thus helping to raise funds for two non-profit organizations: Make-A-Wish and Code.org.
The awards ceremony on Saturday, 21 March was first held in its entirety and broadcast live on the Roblox website, which practically put the group together.
Watch the Bloxys together with their mates from inside a custom-made viewing environment, complete with a lazy river with floats, racing scooters as well as complete quests and souvenirs to collect. Also included this year’sBloxys were special, community-made interactive objects that benefited two charitable organisations: Make-A-Wish and Code.org. The $100,000 raised from the selling of the six pieces created by EvilArtist, Beeism, and supernob123 creators from Roblox will go directly to these groups and their worthy causes.
“We take our role in helping people connect very seriously, and the Bloxys was a great demonstration of the Roblox community coming together to support one another and give back, particularly during these very difficult times,” said David Baszucki, Roblox CEO and co-founder (a.k.a. Builderman). “Our developer community continues to push the boundaries of our platform in remarkable ways, engaging millions of players around the world and inspiring countless more budding creators.”
